Log in with a GU account to access online resources off-campus

Do as follows:

1. Go to Supersearch and perform your search.
2. Click on the link to the article or book you are interested in. It may say, for example, "Fulltext options, or "Get PDF."

If you are an employee and are logged in with the university's VPN, you will have direct access to the material. Read more about working remotely with VPN in the Staff Portal.

For students and employees who do not use VPN, a few additional steps are required after clicking on a link to a resource:

1. Log in with your GU account, enter your university email address when a login box appears.
2. Enter the password for your student or staff account.
3. You will then be asked to confirm your login using Microsoft Authenticator.

To get more search results, save searches and create alerts you can also log in to Supersearch with your GU account. Use your gus-ID or X-account when a login box appears.

If you can not access e-resources after logging in, it may be worth trying to:

• Clear cookies and other website data in the browser.
• Disable browser extensions such as ad blockers and script blockers.
• Temporarily turn off virus protection on your computer.

Sometimes access to our e-resources do not work from schools, county councils or other workplaces. This is caused by their firewalls or settings that block access to the library's e-resources.

Students should contact their course leader about applying for an external GU account.

A GU account is automatically created after an external employee is registered in the university's personnel and organisation platform (POP). The organisation that hires an external employee is responsible for registering them in POP.
