Talking books

A talking book is an audio recorded version of a printed book. Note that talking book loans are only available for persons with reading impairments. Read more about who's allowed to borrow talking books at the Swedish Agency for Accessible Media, MTM.

You can find talking books by searching them in the Legimus catalogue and use them on your computer, smart phone or on certain media players.

Listening to books and textbooks

All students at the University of Gothenburg can listen to the library’s digital textbooks using text-to-speech, even if you do not have access to talking books. Search in Supersearch and filter by Textbook and Full Text Online. You can also find databases and e-resources with e-books.

Support software

The university provides support software such as speech synthesizers, magnifying software and tools that help you with spelling and grammar. For many, it helps to listen to the text they have written with a speech synthesizer to detect spelling errors or illogical participles.

You can find the software in the Student Portal. Log in with your GU account (gus-id) to access the support software. Some of the programs are also installed on the library's computers if you want to test before installing on your own computer.

Read and write support software

Some of the software is also installed on the library’s computers.
