EU- and UN-material, legislation, official publications and statistics

The databases contain different types of publications by and about the EU. Information about what kind of material each database contains can be found in its description. Most EU databases are freely available online. Examples of material in the databases:

The University Library's printed EU material can be found in Supersearch. You can request the material, or find its location and collect it from the shelf yourself. Most of the EU material is placed at the Economics Library.

The Economics Library is a so called European Documentation Centre (EDC). Turn to us when you want help with finding information about and documentation from the European Union. As a part of the EDC mission the Library also organises events about the EU and holds courses for students and researchers about searching EU information.

The Library is a part of a larger network with EDC libraries that are responsible for promoting and supporting studies and research about the EU. The network is run by the European Commission, in Sweden there are a total of eleven libraries in the network.

Economics Library

The databases contain different types of publications by the UN. Information about what kind of material each database contains can be found in its description. Most UN databases are freely available online.

If you need more information about the UN and different types of UN publications, you can use the UN research guide.

Each UN document is labeled with a unique document symbol, such as A/RES/67/1. All translations of a document have the same symbol.

If you have a document symbol, you can use it to find the document in the Official Document System (ODS).

You can also access the document directly by visiting http://undocs.org/ followed by the document symbol, such as http://undocs.org/A/RES/67/1.

The Economics Library is a so called UN depository library. This means that the Library has a collection of printed UN publications and that the librarians can answer questions about material.

Students and staff at the University of Gothenburg can access the databases through the university network, or by logging in with the GU account when outside of campus. Everyone visiting the University Library can use our computers to access the databases.

Statistics Sweden (SCB) is responsible for official statistics and coordinating the system for the official statistics in Sweden. On Statistics Sweden's website you will find:

The Economics Library holds a large collection of Swedish and international statistics, and a collection of EU statistics. Other libraries within the Gothenburg University Library also have collections of statistics in different subject areas. Use Supersearch to find the printed statistical material.

A selection of Swedish printed annual reports is available at the Economics Library. Digitised Swedish annual reports are available in the database Retriever Business and in the Historical annual reports archive at the Swedish House of Finance. International annual reports are available in the database Capital IQ.
